Know why Rakhi should not be tied during Bhadra period. Also know when will Rakshabandhan be celebrated this year?

What is Bhadra Kaal?

According to religious beliefs, auspicious work is not done during Bhadra period. This is the reason that even Rakhi is not tied in Bhadrakal. Bhadra is the daughter of Lord Suryadev and sister of King Shani. Like Saturn, its nature is also said to be harsh. To control his nature, Lord Brahma placed him in Vishishkaran, a major part of the Kalgan or Panchang.

The Panchang states that the full moon (Shravan/Sawan Purnima) of the month of Sawan will start at 10:38 am on 11 August 2022 and will end at 7.05 am on 12 August 2022. Bhadrakal starts on 11th August from morning till 8 am.

Auspicious time and date of Rakshabandhan

According to Hinduism, no auspicious work should be done after sunset. Because of this, Rakhi cannot be tied to brothers in Bhadrakal or at night. The festival of Rakshabandhan is celebrated only on the full moon date. On August 11, 2022, after 10.37 minutes, the full moon date will start, which will end on August 12 at around 7 am. Some people believe that tying Rakhi on 12th August is more appropriate and auspicious. If you want to tie Rakhi on 12th August, then do it before 7.05 am.
