Mouth ulcers are generally harmless. These can be extremely painful and make it difficult to eat, drink, and brush your teeth. People with mouth ulcers have problems with chewing or brushing their teeth and have problems such as burning sensation due to consumption of salty, spicy or sour foods.
Here are some of the most common causes of mouth ulcers:
Poor oral hygiene:
One of the causes of mouth ulcers is the lack of proper oral hygiene. This may be due to factors such as brushing the teeth. Also the presence of certain ingredients in toothpaste or mouthwash, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, may increase the risk of recurrent mouth ulcers.
Mouth ulcers can also be caused by nutritional deficiencies in minerals and vitamins such as iron, vitamin B-12, zinc and folate.
Consumption of tobacco causes ulcers in the mouth because of the harmful chemicals and toxins found in it. Apart from this, can increase the risk of cancer in the mouth.
A weakened immune system or hormonal changes in the body as a result of stress or anxiety are important factors in mouth ulcers.
Injury and transplant:
Mouth ulcers can also be caused by an injury to the mouth. Many times we get hurt by our own teeth while eating food or can also get hurt while brushing. Or a tooth implant can also cause blisters.
